Divorce in Australia: What You Need to Know

To apply for a divorce, you must:

• Be legally married

• Be separated for at least 12 months

• Be able to show there’s no chance of reconciliation

• Have proper arrangements in place for any children under 18

You can apply individually or jointly, and your spouse does not have to agree to the divorce.
